Episode 50

Episode 50:

Robin (episode 37) rejoins the DIU gang for the big 5-0 episode. We briefly cover various ongoing Jack C subjects such as the results of the Instagram model project and a biotin update. Robin, returning from a two-week trip to South Korea and Japan, also gives his take on the two Asian countries.

Jack brings in the topic about the K-Pop group, BTS, winning a Billboard Award. Their victory in the Top Social Artist category over the likes of Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez, Ariana Grande, and Shawn Mendes caused a huge commotion among social media users who didn’t like seeing some Asians win the award. Meanwhile, Gavin brings in a new study which suggests that social media applications may be causing significant mental health issues for young adults. We talk about an appropriate approach and mindset for using social media… and what it means to have FOMO (Fear of Missing Out).

Afterwards, Jack and Robin answer a fan question on this week’s segment of the Kao Lui Corner.

Episode 40

Episode 40:

We’ve got a packed studio (and mini reunion) for DIU Podcast’s season two finale. Joining Gavin, Jack, and Kyle in studio this week is Jonathan and Taimoor – two friends who just so happened to be in Japan while Jack and Kyle were visiting. The gang retell the story of their initial meeting. The four then go on to describe the experiences travelling with their respective travel partner and a surprising number of similarities appear.

Jack’s mind is blown when Jonathan and Taimoor both state that they have white girlfriends – shattering Jack’s old worldview that Asian men can’t get with white girls.

Lastly, the higher-ups at DIU Podcast have finally had it with the Love Guru’s lack of new articles. Season two ends with another major cliffhanger as it is revealed that the Jack has been stripped of his Love Guru title. What does this mean for the Kao Lui Corner? Find out in season three!

DIU Podcast will return in late March… (date TBA)

After doing some research, there seems to be a general consensus that taxes are not included on price tags. This is especially important for large companies which try to remain transparent when they are being audited. Furthermore different states/provinces have differing taxes, so it is easier to simply say $10.99 + tax.
